Julius Randle & RJ Barrett lead the team to a win in Knicks vs Hawks

Are the New York Knicks this good. In the matchup of Knicks vs. Hawks, the combination of Julius Randle (28 points, 17 rebounds, 9 assists) and RJ Barrett (26 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists) were a lethal dynamic duo in their 113-108 win. The Knicks have won four of their last five games as they improved to 4-3 on the season.

Main Knicks vs Hawks headlines

For starters, the Knicks overcame a 15-point deficit to come back and win. The fourth quarter was where the Knicks sealed the deal. A 29-10 advantage helped New York overtake Atlanta.

Can anybody stop Julius Randle?

Randle is playing like a pure MVP candidate right now. While he has some work to do to be put in that kind of conversation, his near double-double is incredible. In the last 10 years, there are only five players that have ever had 20 points and 20 rebounds. What’s most impressive is that Randle nearly had a triple-double, which would have been his second one in seven games.

Knicks vs Hawks: New York stopped Trae Young

When you look at the box score, Young finished with 31 points and 14 assists, which are stat-padding numbers. However, he finished 9-of-22 from the field, which included 1-of-6 from three-point range. He also had eight turnovers in the game. Yes, Young got his points, but he also hurt his team in many capacities.

Immanuel Quickley getting it done

The 21-year old from Kentucky was a first-round pick taken by Oklahoma City in this year’s draft before New York acquired him. Quickley has been carving out a role for this team but had his best game of the season so far with 16 points in 19 minutes, including 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. Quickley has impressed Tom Thibodeau enough to find a role, but can he continue to keep those minutes?

Knicks vs Hawks game analysis & commentary

This was an impressive win. The Hawks were coming off two impressive games against the Brooklyn Nets and putting up some heavy points offensively. However, Thibs is a mastermind at defense and New York held these high-flying Hawks to just 108 points.

No bench for Atlanta

The starting lineup for Atlanta featured all five players playing at least 30 minutes or more. Only nine players saw the floor for the Hawks. Those players combined for 14 points compared to 30 points from New York. The reserves did their part on one side.

Evenly matched Knicks vs Hawks game

In nearly every team statistical data point, the teams were within two to three percentage points or three to four points. The only difference was three-point field goals where the Hawks made 10-of-31 compared to 7-of-21. These two teams will see each other again, and that rematch will be fun to see.

Looking ahead

The Knicks have Tuesday off and return to action against the Utah Jazz. The Jazz will be coming off no rest after a matchup with the Brooklyn Nets. For now, the Jazz is 4-2 on the season and first in the Northwest Division.
