Knicks vs 76ers -Preview, Analysis, and Predictions

The New York Knicks are coming off a 121-107 loss to the Indiana Pacers in the season opener. The Knicks will look to rebound vs Philadelphia 76ers in their second test of the season.

NY Knicks vs 76ers Preview

Last season, the 76ers won all four meetings with the Knicks. However, all four matchups were close with the largest margin of the win being by nine points. The last time these two teams played was February 27th. The 76ers won 115-106 despite 30 points from Julius Randle.

New York: A Consistent Underdog

In nearly every game this season, the Knicks are going to be considered underdogs. The 76ers handled the Knicks in February without Joel Embiid or Ben Simmons playing. Tobias Harris finished the game with 35 points and is back for another year in Philly.

Can RJ Barrett Be A Knicks Superstar?

When the franchise drafted Barrett with the No. 3 overall picks in the 2019 NBA Draft, the team was hopeful they would see what Barrett did on Wednesday every night. Barrett led New York with 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. To stay in games, Barrett will have to play this way in each game.

Knicks vs 76ers – Analysis

The Knicks vs 76ers are going to face trials and tribulations during this season. Two of the top three players in the starting lineup are 22 or younger.

Youthful Learning

In the season opener, Alec Burks surprised some folks with 22 points off the bench. First-round pick Obi Toppin looked sluggish in his NBA debut with 3-of-12 shooting for nine points. As he gains more experience, the former College Player of the Year should produce at a higher level. Mitchell Robinson was the worst player (-17) on the floor last game. He has to play better and will have a tough task in guarding Embiid. This could be another game that gives the youthful movement in New York another lesson.

Knicks vs 76ers Predictions

While the Knicks played well against a likely playoff opponent in the Pacers, the 76ers will be a tougher foe to match.

New York Loses Big

Despite not losing the 76ers by double digits one-time last year, this will be a completely new Philly team. Getting Al Horford out of the lane will allow Embiid to play his natural position. Embiid put on a clinic against Washington with 29 points and 14 rebounds in Philly’s opener. Embiid should bring another solid performance in what will be a 120-100 win over New York.

Philly Makes It Rain

The 76ers brought in Danny Green and Seth Curry to knock down outside shots. The 76ers were sluggish against Washington, shooting 28% from three-point range. The team will rebound this time around and make 15 three-point shots against the Knicks.

Somebody Posterizes Mitchell Robinson

Robinson has to play better if he wants to be a true center in this league. However, his player efficiency was lackluster. The 76ers have three All-Star players that love to fly in the paint. If Robinson doesn’t bring his A-game, he is going to be put on the receiving end of a poster dunk.
